History

The history of the Cartier brand began in 1847 when Louis-François Cartier took over the small jewelry workshop from its master, Adolphe Picard, located at 29 Rue Montorgueil, the most expensive and chicest street in Paris at the time. After 4 years, Louis-François Cartier became Corte Real. Shortly thereafter, in 1859, he rented a property on the Boulevard des Italiens, where he would stay for 40 years and gain a wider clientele, like the high society ladies who passed by to visit the Jardin des Tuileries.
