History

It all started in France in 1837 when a saddler of German origin, named Thierry Hermès, opened a small workshop in Paris where he sold leather accessories. On January 10, 1878, with the death of Thierry Hermès, Charles-Emile took over the management of his father's workshop and, in 1880, he moved to a larger location where the store remains to this day. Later in 1951 the company was passed to Robert Dumas and it was he who started producing the traditional ties, travel bags, beach towels and perfumes of the brand currently on the market.
