History
|
It all started in France when Armand Roger and Charles Gallet bought the Parisian perfumery company founded in 1806 by Jean Marie Joseph Farina. At first they gained fame for their bath soaps which in 1879 first appeared in their characteristic round shape, with wrinkled tissue paper and stamp, still in use today. But later on they managed to succeed with the newly synthesized fragrance of violet, to which they held the French rights, producing perfumes such as Vera Violetta. Later in 1975 Roger & Gallet was acquired by the Sanofi Group, which in turn sold the brand to Gucci in 1999 but ultimately L'Oreal acquired Roger & Gallet from Gucci in 2008. |
