History

Neutrogena's story begins in 1930 when founder Emanuel Stolaroff decides to start a small specialty cosmetics company called Natone. In the beginning, Natone was a supplier of beauty salons normally associated with the glamor of the film industry, but in 1940, Natone began manufacturing and distributing cosmetics for retail. It was then that in 1954 the company began to change when he went on a trip to Europe, Emanuel discovered a transparent glycerin soap, developed by the Belgian chemist Edmond Fromontue, which contained a special formula that allowed quick and easy rinsing, without leaving residues or affecting the pH of the skin. Emanuel believed that there was a market for this differentiated soap in the United States and began to import and market it under the Neutrogena brand. |
